Der Attersee – Die Kultur der Sommerfrische
This culture historical publication documents the history of the urban summer community and their houses around the Attersee, which, in the late 19th century, developed to a summer center for the liberal middle-class community, with the help of a number of important figures from cultural and intellectual circles. Core of this paper is the lake side architecture - the villa, cottage typology molded by a number of important 20th century architects such as O. Marmorek, E.A. Plischke, C. Holzmeister, S. Theiss, Roland Rainer and others.

A summer on the lakeside
For decades the “Sommerfrische” (summer resort) has been part of Austrian summers and thus of Austrian culture. For a while it fell into oblivion but now it is back again. BWM architect Erich Bernard has already published two books on the theme – “Der Traunsee – der Mythos der Sommerfrische” as well as “Der Attersee – Die Kultur der Sommerfrische”. Get inspired!
